Unique Stories from Cyprus
An interesting story from one of the co-founders Elpidios Christodoulou.
In 2012 I was a 22 year old post-graduate in Interactive Media & Web from University of Wolverhampton. After just 3 days I found my first job. The same year the big crisis in Cyprus happened. Salaries were cut significantly. My friends thought I was crazy, but I chose to quit my job and become a freelancer. I did the for five years, but it wasn’t easy. At the age of 22, my experience was limited. The IT industry didn’t exist in Cyprus yet and many people didn’t really understand or believe in the power of the internet and social media. A lot has changed since then.
In 2018 I understood that is not the end of the world to go out and get a job. Finding a full-time job helped me to improve my skills and learn what’s important for companies in terms of their objectives, now I have a better idea of how to help them. The only thing I can tell my future clients is that our prices are suitable for businesses of any size. Our objective is to be accessible to all businesses. We don’t mind if our clients are multinational corporations or they sell souvlaki. We do not discriminate on price. We respect everyone’s funds and want you to respect our work.
Another insightful store from one of the co-founders James Glyde.
As an Expat living in Cyprus, I didn’t know anyone or anything. I joined a company which also was made up mostly of Expats from different parts of the world. The Cypriot economy is made up of so many Expats and visitors that you can’t ignore them. The only source of information about what’s around me was to walk into a random shop and hope it has the things I need and the service I expect. That trial and error experience is really stressful. It’s true that for locals word-of-mouth is how people find out about your business. As a foreigner in Cyprus, all I had was Google.
So many local businesses in Cyprus are either not online or do not look after their websites properly. This makes it impossible for tourists and expats to find your business. Having a website is the easy part and alone, this just isn’t enough. You need to make sure that search engines and therefore your potential customers will find you when they need you. These days, the investment barrier of getting your local business is online negligible. The benefit can be priceless. I joined this idea to not only get Cyprus businesses online but to get them found.
The first idea came from three people working in different companies and possessing different skills to create a financial blog and sell native content and banner ad space. After just one year this blog became very popular in the online trading industry. The site’s growth relied solely on SEO. The results were amazing. We achieved the following results in one of the most competitive sectors.
We started to think about the next step. Another finance blog? A general interest blog? Then the idea hit us. What if we can help small and medium business owners in Cyprus to get their businesses found online. On the 28th of August 2019 we all agreed, Let’s do it. We’ve prepared a number of case studies from our previous work to show what we have done for other business owners in the past.
It’s 2019, Cyprus is changing. Word-of-mouth isn’t enough any more. We are ready to get your business online!
